The heart of the game: our volunteer coaches

The Coach

Behind every pass, every goal, and every smile on the soccer field is a volunteer coach who chose to show up.

Volunteer coaches and assistant coaches are the backbone of boundary youth soccer. They give their time, energy, and heart so children can experience more than just a game. they experience growth, confidence, teamwork, and joy.

For young players, a coach is often one of the first mentors outside the family. Coaches teach far more than how to dribble or defend. They teach children:

  • how to try again after a mistake

  • how to support a teammate

  • how to listen and

  • how to believe in themselves.

Whether working with a curious 3 year old taking their first kick or guiding a determined 14 year old through competitive play, volunteer coaches help shape both the player and the person.

The Assistant Coach

Assistant coaches play an equally vital role. They offer extra encouragement, individual attention, and another trusted adult voice on the field. Together, coaches and assistants create a safe, positive environment where every child feels seen, valued, and capable of success.

Most importantly, volunteer coaches model what it means to give back. Children learn by example that leadership is about service, that our communities thrive when people step up, and that making a difference doesn’t require perfection, just care and commitment.

Because of our volunteer coaches, soccer becomes more than a sport.
It becomes a place where confidence is built, friendships are formed, and lifelong lessons take root.
